Aaron Rodgers could become fifth NFL QB ever to beat all 32 teams as Steelers face Packers: Who else is close?

Aaron Rodgers, the 41-year-old veteran quarterback, stands on the brink of joining an elite group in NFL history — becoming just the fifth quarterback ever to defeat all 32 NFL teams. Throughout his illustrious career, Rodgers has managed to beat 31 of the league’s 32 teams, with only one remaining: the Green Bay Packers, the franchise where he spent the first 18 seasons of his career.

This Sunday night, Rodgers will finally get the opportunity to check off that last opponent on his list as the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Green Bay Packers. The matchup is particularly poignant given Rodgers’ history with the Packers. Selected by Green Bay in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft, Rodgers developed into one of the game’s greatest players, winning four Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards and leading the Packers to a Super Bowl victory. However, after a bitter and public falling-out with the organization, Rodgers was traded away in April 2023 — first to the New York Jets, where he spent two seasons, and then this offseason to Pittsburgh.

Currently leading the AFC North with a 4-2 record heading into Week 8, Rodgers and the Steelers have a chance to make history. Should Rodgers lead Pittsburgh to a victory over the Packers, he would join NFL legends Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Brett Favre as the only quarterbacks to have defeated all 32 NFL teams. This is a rare and prestigious feat, marking a quarterback’s versatility, longevity, and success across different teams and divisions.

Interestingly, Rodgers’ path to this milestone mirrors that of Brett Favre, another Hall of Fame quarterback and former Packers icon. Favre spent 16 seasons in Green Bay before being traded to the New York Jets in 2008. After just one season with the Jets, Favre signed with the Minnesota Vikings. During his first year in Minnesota, Favre faced the Packers and led the Vikings to victory, becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to defeat all 32 teams. Rodgers now has the chance to emulate that journey by beating the Packers as a member of the Steelers.

Currently, there are seven active quarterbacks who have beaten at least 30 NFL teams, including Rodgers. Let’s take a closer look at these quarterbacks and their chances of joining this exclusive club:

Patrick Mahomes, the star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs, has beaten 31 teams. However, since he remains with Kansas City, it’s impossible for him to beat the Chiefs, preventing him from reaching the full 32.

Matthew Stafford, formerly of the Rams and now with a new team, has also defeated 31 teams. The only team left for him to beat is the Pittsburgh Steelers. Interestingly, Stafford had never beaten the Tennessee Titans before the 2025 season, but after the Rams defeated Tennessee in Week 2, the Steelers became the last team standing on his list. However, the Rams are not scheduled to face the Steelers this season, so the only opportunity to complete his sweep this year would be if both teams meet in the Super Bowl.

Daniel Jones, the backup quarterback for the New York Giants, has beaten 31 teams as well. His only missing win is against the Seattle Seahawks. Unfortunately, this is unlikely to happen anytime soon because the Giants do not play the Seahawks this season, and Jones has been relegated to the bench.

Josh Allen, the Buffalo Bills’ star quarterback, has defeated 30 teams but still needs victories over the Bills and Eagles. Beating his own team, Buffalo, is impossible, of course, but Allen has a chance to knock off the Eagles when Buffalo hosts Philadelphia in Week 17, potentially increasing his total to 31 teams.

Joe Burrow, the Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback, has also beaten 30 teams but still needs to defeat both the Baltimore Ravens and Seattle Seahawks to reach 32. Burrow will likely have two opportunities to beat the Ravens this year in Weeks 13 and 15, but the Bengals are not scheduled to face the Seahawks. Like Stafford, Burrow would have to wait for a potential Super Bowl matchup to get a shot at Seattle.

Marcus Mariota, the backup quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, has beaten 30 teams but faces a tough path in knocking off the Bengals and Chiefs, especially since he remains a backup and those matchups may not come his way.

Beyond these quarterbacks, three starters have beaten 29 teams and could increase their totals over the course of the
