Premium Robot Vacs Are Getting Cheaper. Ecovacs' New Model Proves It

Ecovacs, a well-regarded brand known for producing some of the best robot vacuums on the market, has introduced its latest models aimed at improving cleaning efficiency while offering advanced features at competitive prices. Their new Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni robot vacuum is the successor to the T80 Omni, and it brings several significant upgrades inspired by the brand’s flagship models, such as the X12 and X11 Omnicyclone. These enhancements include faster charging capabilities and improved mobility, all while maintaining a more affordable price point. This approach reflects a growing trend in the robot vacuum industry, where premium features are gradually trickling down to mid-range models.

One of the most notable improvements in the T90 Pro Omni is its suction power. The device boasts a powerful 30,000 pascals of suction, a substantial increase from the 18,000 pascals offered by its predecessor, the T80 Omni. This boost in suction strength means the T90 Pro Omni can better capture dust, dirt, and debris from various floor types, enhancing its overall cleaning performance. This power increase helps the vacuum tackle more stubborn messes and ensures a more thorough clean.

Another standout feature is the inclusion of Ecovacs’ PowerBoost Charging technology, previously seen only on the premium X11 Omnicyclone model. Priced under $1,000 at launch — specifically $900 — the T90 Pro Omni can recharge its battery at a much faster rate. This innovation allows the robot vacuum to complete cleaning sessions more efficiently by reducing the frequency and duration of returns to the charging dock. Ecovacs describes this technology as an industry first, explaining that it dynamically manages power by reserving and restoring energy during routine mop-washing cycles. This means the vacuum can maintain longer, uninterrupted cleaning runs, which is particularly useful for larger homes or spaces with extensive floor area.

In terms of cleaning mechanics, the T90 Pro Omni features the newer Ozmo Roller 3.0 system. This system utilizes a self-washing mop roller made of 27-centimeter microfiber, which Ecovacs claims is the largest mop roller available in its class. The roller design applies constant pressure to the floor, making it less likely to spread dirt around compared to traditional spinning or vibrating mop pads. The microfiber material enhances the vacuum’s ability to capture dust and grime effectively. What makes the mop system truly convenient is its self-cleaning functionality: the robot refreshes the mop roller with clean water while actively cleaning, and when it returns to its base station, it undergoes a thorough washing and drying cycle. This reduces the manual maintenance required by users and helps keep the mop roller hygienic and ready for the next cleaning session.

The T90 Pro Omni also includes TruEdge cleaning technology, which allows the mop roller and brushes to extend slightly beyond the robot’s body to reach edges and tight corners more effectively. This feature ensures that the vacuum can clean right up against walls, baseboards, and other tricky areas, improving overall coverage and cleaning precision.

Despite these upgrades, the T90 Pro Omni is positioned as a mid- to high-end robot vacuum, balancing advanced features with affordability. At its $900 launch price, it is actually cheaper than the T80 Omni was at its own launch in 2022, where it retailed for around $1,000. However, the older T80 Omni is currently available at a steep discount — around $500 — making it a more budget-friendly option for those willing to forgo some of the newer features. For context, Ecovacs’ flagship X12 Omnicyclone model, which includes even more advanced technology, is expected to be priced closer to $1,500, though an official price has yet to be announced.

While the T90 Pro Omni excels at floor cleaning, it does not handle window cleaning. For that purpose, Ecovacs has introduced the Winbot W3 Omni, a new robot designed specifically for windows. This model succeeds the Winbot W2 and incorporates the company’s Vortex Wash system. This innovative system is built into the multifunctional base station and automates the pad-washing process, eliminating the need for manual rinsing. The base station also serves as a charging dock for the window-cleaning robot, streamlining maintenance and ensuring the device is always ready for use.

Like the T90 Pro Omni vacuum, the Winbot W3 Omni features TruEdge technology, allowing it to clean precisely along window edges and
